Speed tag

Assalamualaikum (:

We had a sharing session on the topic of Fighting one's desire (nafs). From the day we woke up, everyday, we are already fighting our desires, which is waking up for Fajr.

If man remains asleep at the time of Fajr then he abandons the command of Allah s.w.t and becomes a worshipper of his nafs because his bed is dearer to him at that time. Everything that takes away from the worship of Allah s.w.t falls into the worship of the nafs, and man needs to fight against this so that he can again return to obeying Allah s.w.t.

There are so many different types if desires we face everyday, the one mentioned above is just one of them.

One of the activity that we had was "What does Fighting one's desire mean to you?" & "What are the ways that you can do to avoid from following your nafs?"
MasyaAllah, there were many different kinds of answers. There was one in particular, when one of the sisters said, "Fighting our nafs is one of the greatest jihad." Indeed it is, SubhanAllah!

Ways to avoid from following you nafs can be:
  • Fasting
  • Buying what you need not what you want.
  • Read the Al-Quran
  • If you nafs tells you to eat more, eat less
Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda, "Makan sebelum lapar, henti sebelum kenyang."

Most importantly is to just do the opposite of what you nafs tells you to, etc if your mother ask you to do the chores, but you are too tired/lazy, get up and do it.

In Surah Sad Ayat 26, Allah says:
"...And follow not your desire, for it will mislead you from the Path of Allah. Allah has made restraining desires one of the conditions to be fulfilled in order to enter Paradise."

After sharing session, we played speed taggg! This game relates back to the topic of Fighting one's desire, how to fight against your nafs and protecting yourself from it.

One of the sisters, Hanisah shares her experience about this event:

It was my first time playing Nerf, despite the boiling hot weather, I really had fun playing with my Nypmsn sisters & brothers. Well, it's not just about having fun, it's also a form of bonding session as well as teamwork and keeping ourselves fit.
On the other hand, the sharing session was indeed beneficial one too. Overall, I think speed tag event was well organized. Thank you Nypmsn for having such a wonderful event, look forward to more exciting events/activities InsyaAllah.

Alhamdulillah, thank you to those who came for our events! (:
Keep a lookout for our upcoming events!
